Resolutions of The XVII Annual Convention of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) held in Jodhpur:
IATO recommends the elimination of the Hotel Expenditure and Service Tax on the tourism sector and its replacement by a single Service Tax appropriately graded for different categories of hotels and for tour operators.
 
IATO recommends the rationalization of Central and State taxes impacting Tourism so that the combined incidence does not exceed an agreed level so that action regarding one do not negate the other. It is recommended that that presentation be prepared IATO with the help of professionals
 
IATO recommends the constitution of an empowered Group of Ministers chaired by the Prime Minister to give policy directions to coordinate all matters related to Tourism including bringing Tourism under priority sector.
 
IATO recommends that Tourism be treated as a vital input in future for socio- economic, planning and that allocations for tourism be substantially increased in the Tenth Five Year Plan.
 
IATO recommends the creation of a National Tourism Board as a Government - Industry Partnership with the provision of Seed Capital jointly by Government & Industry and annual funding by the single Service Tax.
 
IATO recommends that hotels be approved to narrow down the difference between printing rates and special rates.
 
IATO recommends that the government be approached to expedite their policy for simplification of Visa Procedure and Visa on Arrival particularly to nationals of friendly countries and wherever Indian Embassies and High Commissions are not available or situated at a long distance.
 
IATO recommends that the Dual Citizenship be given to NRIs which will not only help the NRIs to maintain their roots in India but will also help in bringing much needed investment.
 
IATO recommends regarding provision of professionals at the airport for handling of tourists.
 
IATO recommends that all those states which do not have Tourism Police, be approached for creation of Tourism Police at the Tourist Spots.
 
IATO recommends that the Government be approached for the creation of Crisis Management Fund.
 
IATO recommends that steps be taken at all level- Centre, State and private for the prevention and preservation of ecology and environment.
 
IATO recommends that a committee be constituted to recommend regarding the re-look of prohibition laws enforced by various states.
 
IATO recommends that every state should have its own international airport.
 
IATO recommends that every state should have tourism friendly tourism policy.
 
IATO recommends that Government - Centre and State be approached to adopt single window clearance policy for tourism related projects.
 
IATO recommends that the special emphasis be given for development of Rural tourism.
 
IATO recommends for adequate publicity in the foreign countries by the government for which professional PR agencies be engaged.
 
IATO recommends that government - Centre and State - should give top priority for adequate creation and maintenance of infrastructure at the airports, railways stations, monuments, internal roads and highways, shopping and walking malls, amusement and entertainment centers and other tourist spots.
