MOU BETWEEN IATO AND ASITA

Indian Association of Tour Operators (hereinafter referred to as IATO) and Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (hereinafter referred to as ASITA), both non governmental and non profit making organizations, with a view to promote tourism in both countries as well as share information on tourism and express their interest to work together and also to develop and implement programmes / projects for mutual benefits, have agreed as follow :-

Both parties agree to strengthen cooperation so as to promote the development of international tourism in general and specifically develop tourism traffic from and to their respective countries.

Both parties to become/appoint on reciprocal basis each other's association as honorary member of their respective associations.

Both parties agree to continuously seek ways to enhance contacts and communications between their associations and amongst their members.


Both parties agree that arrangements for travel and tour services, including hotel reservations required by members of the respective associations in the two countries, will be channeled through the members of the respective associations only.

Both associations agree that their members automatically become Overseas members of their respective associations and that they can use and print the associations' logo in their promotional material.

Both parties agree to exchange tourism promotion materials and other tourism information, including policies related to tourism development and investment opportunities in tourism in each other country.

Both associations will cooperate in the development of human resources, to include but not limited to the development of common competency standards, recognition of common professional standards and certification, and to develop training, workshops and seminars for the development of the travel and tourism industry.


Both parties agree to cooperate, find, identify and seek ways and means for the removal of barriers to the further expansions of tourism traffic between their two countries.

Both parties agree to cooperate in the marketing and promotion of tourism traffic between the two countries, and eventually initiate and-implement action programmes to support this cooperation.

Both parties agree to form a Joint Action Committee to discuss strategies to the development of cooperation programmes.

The Joint Action Committee will meet once a year, and can form Sub Committees for the implementations of specific programmes.

This Memorandum of Understanding is written in English, signed by both parties in New Delhi, India on the 17th day of April 2002.
