MOU BETWEEN
IATO AND SATTE
|
- This memorandum of understanding
between Indian Association of Tour
Operators (IATO) and South Asia Travel
and Tourism Exchange (SATTE) will
synergise their efforts towards
promotion of tourism and travel in India
and in the region.
- This MOU recognizes the sterling
contributions made by the two parties in
their respective fields of endeavour and
is a recognition of the fact that the
coming together of the two organisations
will further cement the process of
growth for tourism and promotion of
destination India in overseas markets.
- It recognizes IATO as the apex
organisation that has been in the
forefront of promotion of India as a
destination and that SATTE has been a
unique event of its kind that has
provided a platform for overseas tour
operators to familiarise and educate
themselves on what is new in tourism in
India.
- This understanding accepts the
growing stature of SATTE as an exchange
in that there are different streams of
promotional activity which includes
domestic, regional, outbound as well as
inbound tourism into the country. In so
far as SATTE is a B2B exchange for the
promotion of inbound international
tourism, IATO is the natural partner and
ally. Between the two, it has been
decided that IATO will be projected as
business partner for SATTE 2003 and
thereafter, as visualised in this MOU.
- That SATTE is bye the industry and
for the Industry, IATO will call upon
its members to actively promote and
patronise the Exchange as their. That
its members recognise the importance of
SATTE as a platform where new products
and services can be traded.
- That SATTE will provide logistics
for such buyers. Hospitality in leading
hotels of the city of New Delhi and
airfares on concessional rates, as are
available on partner airlines for the
event. Such buyers will be given
facilitation and hospitality as per
SATTE norms.
- That Individual buyers invited by
IATO active members will, as a special
case, be waived the registration charge
as part of this understanding and joint
promotion of tourism to India.
- That IATO through its own efforts
will work closely with India Tourism
Offices abroad, other concerned
government agencies in actively pursuing
programmes that are friendly and
productive for the success of SATTE,
IATO will become the driving force with
other governmental agencies including
the Department of Tourism, Government of
India.
- That IATO will be given a pavilion
space for its active members only, at
special rates. IATO is free to charge
whatever rate it deems appropriate from
its active members only and keep the
margin to itself as its own fees.
- IATO would look at more
opportunities and avenues for revenue
sharing. SATTE will identify
organisations whom IATO can develop as
potential exhibitors. Revenues generated
through these arrangements will be
shared between IATO and SATTE, on terms
as mutually decided.
- That this successful partnership is
initially for two years, renewable
thereafter as may be deemed appropriate
between the two organisations.
- IATO will actively assist SATTE
closely associating itself with the
event. Initially, areas such as airport
facilitation (both arrival and
departure), transfers shuttle services,
post tours, city tours as well as hotel
facilitation counters – areas which fall
under the segment of inbound
international tourism – will be managed
by IATO as an association, through its
appointed and designated nominees.
- It has been decided that IATO can
adopt a few of the seminar opportunities
during SATTE. Educational programmes for
incoming buyers are on obvious choice
for IATO to adopt.
- That this successful arrangement can
also be extended to holding satellite
events in other parts of the country.
Mini conventions of IATO, jointly
branded with SATTE as satellite events
can be undertaken on some regular
frequency. Such events will be promoted
in a joint brand exercise and will be
logistically steered by SATTE on a
revenue sharing basis.
